Dublin, Ireland – Movidius, a chipmaker
focused on mobile 3D video, has secured a $7.5 million second round of funding.

Previous backers including Celtic House Venture Partners, Capital E, Emertec
Gestion, AIB Seed Capital Fund and angel investors participated in the round,
proceeds from which will go toward deploying the company’s Myriad platform.

Ireland-based
Movidius’ chips aim to offer advanced multimedia features on mobile devices, such
as real-time video editing and 3D mobile video.

The company is currently
sampling its products, and plans to begin mass production later in 2010 with
the first handsets containing its products due to hit the market in early 2011.
