Los Angeles – Two years after
selling his online publishing venture ContentNext to U.K. publisher Guardian Media for a
reported $30 million, PaidContent founder Rafat Ali announced that he will
leave the company in early July.

Ali started PaidContent as a one-man blog in
2002; the network of sites now counts 600,000 monthly unique users.

A statement
from Guardian Media notes that Ali "has decided this is a good time for
him to take a break and think about the next chapter."

"As anyone who
follows the company and reads our sites knows, Rafat has done an amazing job of
building ContentNext from the ground up and we wish him every success in the
future," said Guardian managing director Tim Brooks.

The company said
ContentNext managing editor Ernie Sander will assume a wider strategic role,
while co-editor Staci Kramer "will continue to be a thought leader on and
off the site."
