Calif
. – Apple (NASD:  AAPL) announced that it
has now sold more than 2 million iPads in less than 60 days, since the device’s
launch on April 3. The iPad began shipping in Australia,
Canada, France, Germany,
Italy, Japan, Span, Switzerland and the U.K. this past weekend, and is
slated to be available in nine more countries in July and additional countries
later this year.

The company reached its first 1 million iPad units sold after
28 days of availability.

"Customers around the world are experiencing the
magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do," said Apple CEO Steve
Jobs.

"We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough
iPads for everyone."
