New York – TuneSat, a
provider of music identification technology used for royalty reporting, said on
Tuesday that Universal Music Publishing Group will use its audio fingerprint technology
to monitor performance uses of Universal’s repertoire across U.S. broadcast
television. TuneSat said subscribers to its service "reveal significant
numbers of unlicensed performances, where production companies or broadcasters
used music without the proper licenses in place from the copyright owners."
