Cambridge,
Mass.
– Viacom’s (NYSE: VIA) MTV Games and
developer Harmonix on Friday unveiled new gameplay modes and instrument
accessories for its upcoming "Rock Band 3" game, including a new
keyboard and six-string guitar with 102 buttons.

The game will support a new six-string
Fender guitar controller developed with accessories maker Mad Catz, as well as
a new two-octave keyboard controller that includes a handle enabling it to be
played as a keytar.

The new iteration will also support three-part vocal
harmonies on some songs, a feature first seen on "The Beatles: Rock
Band."

"Rock Band 3" is slated for release in the fall.
