Calif. – Sling Media, the unit of
EchoStar (NASD: SATS) that offers TV place-shifting technology that lets users watch their
home TV channels from Internet-connected devices, announced on Tuesday the
release of an application for Android smartphones. The SlingPlayer Mobile app
works with 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi connections, and is available for $30 for Android
handsets including Google’s (NASD: GOOG) Nexus One; HTC’s Droid, MyTouch, G1, Hero and EVO; Motorola’s
Cliq and Backflip; Samsung’s Moment; Sony Ericsson’s x10; and LG’s Eve.
