Shanghai – Chinese online game operator The9 Limited (NASD: NCTY)
announced on Thursday that it has made a minority equity investment in Aurora
Feint, a mobile game developer and operator of the OpenFeint mobile social
platform.

The exact amount of the investment was not disclosed.

Burlingame,
Calif.-based Aurora Feint’s OpenFeint platform can be integrated into any
iPhone game, and includes services such as leaderboards and achievements that
run in a cloud-based service.

The company says thousands of developers are
using OpenFeint in more than 2,200 games available from the App Store.

"We
are confident of the prospect for this mobile platform and believe it will play
an important role in the future development of global mobile internet,"
said Jun Zhu, chairman and CEO of The9.

The9 operates multiplayer games
including "FIFA Online 2," "Soul of the Ultimate Nation"
and "World of Fighter" in China.
