London – The BBC has begun using geo-location technology to
present a customized version of its website to U.S. and other overseas
visitors, in a bid to attract local advertising dollars. BBC .com launched a
new D.C. news bureau, while the TV section of the site now directs U.S. and
other North American visitors to the BBC’s 12 international channels. BBC.com
is drawing 17.4 million monthly unique visitors from the U.S., and 57.8 million
globally, according to comScore.
