San Mateo, Calif. – Japanese social games publisher DeNA
announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Gameview Studios, a developer of
social gaming applications based in Mountain View, Calif.
Financial terms of
the transaction were not disclosed.
Gameview has developed titles including
"Tap Ranch" and "Tap Fish: Exotic."
DeNA says it is "aggressively
investing in promising social application developers all over the world,"
to promote its strategy of "promoting game development across different
mobile devices and borders."
The company previously acquired development
studio IceBreaker, invested in Aurora Feint, and partnered with Yahoo to create
Yahoo Moba-ge.
DeNA, which counts over 20 million subscribers to its games,
also established a $27.5 million incubation fund to promote social gaming.
