London – Project Canvas, the video-on-demand joint venture
between U.K. broadcasters BBC, iTV, Channnel 4 and Channel 5, ISPs TalkTalk and
BT, and infrastructure provider Arqiva, has spun-off into a separate company
called YouView, the Guardian reports. The service is expected to launch before
July 2011, and provide Britons with television-on-demand via a YouView set-top
box.
