San Francisco – DtecNet, a Denmark-based provider of
anti-piracy monitoring services for the entertainment industry, has been
acquired by San Francisco-based brand abuse prevention firm Mark Monitor,
TorrentFreak reported, citing the local Comon.dk.

DtecNet has been hired by
record label trade group IFPI and others to monitor file-sharing networks and
collect evidence used in copyright infringement prosecutions.

Mark Monitor, for
its part, provides monitoring for counterfeit goods on sites like eBay, and has
previously partnered with DtecNet.

Neither company would comment on the deal
for TorrentFreak.
