New York – Verizon (NYSE: VZ) on Wednesday launched Flex View for
subscribers to its FiOS TV digital TV servive, a new feature that provide access
to FiOS video-on-demand content on portable devices outside the home.

Customers
must pay extra to rent or purchase movies, and eventually TV episodes, on Flex
View.

Titles are available for up to 30 days following purchase, and remain
available for 24-48 hours after viewing begins.

Flex View launches with more
than 1,400 movie titles; the number is expected to grow to 2,000 by year’s end,
and at least triple over the next year, when TV episodes are expected to join
the offering.

At launch, supported mobile devices do not include Apple’s iPhone
or iPad, but the service will be available on the BlackBerry Storm 2; several
Android smartphones from HTC; two Motorola Droid models; an Archos portable
media player; and the Toshiba Satellite T230.

Verizon also plans to allow FiOS
TV subscribers to access personal photos, videos and music through Flex View
next year.
