Tel Aviv, Israel – PrimeSense, an Israel-based developer of
3D sensing and gesture recognition technology, announced on Wednesday that it
has received a strategic investment from Silver Lake Sumeru.

Financial terms
were not disclosed.

PrimeSense says its Natural Interaction Technology enables
3D mapping and gesture recognition in consumer electronics like TVs, gaming
systems and personal computers.

The company’s technology formed the basis of Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing game system.

PrimeSense also recently announced that its
technology would be utilized in the ASUS PC-to-TV Extender.
