Los Angeles – SEE Virtual Worlds, a developer of branded online
virtual worlds, announced on Thursday that it has acquired Planet Calypso, the
first virtual planet in MindArk’s "Entropia Universe" massively
multiplayer online roleplaying game, for $6 million.

Launched in 2003, Planet
Calypso counts 950,000 registered account from 200 countries, and encompasses
virtual territory with $428 million in player-to-player transactions processed
in 2010.

Los Angeles-based SEE said it also acquired the assets of MindArk’s
First Planet Company, which will become SEE Digital Studios.

The deals follow
SEE’s plans to develop branded virtual worlds for Entropia, including Planet
Michael — basd on Michael Jackson — and Universal Monsters, which features
Van Helsing and Universal Studios’ stable of cinematic monsters.
