Helsinki, Finland – Grey Area, a developer of mobile,
location-based games, said on Wednesday that it has secured $2.5 million in new
funding.

Investors in the round included Index Ventures, London Venture
Partners and Initial Capital.

Founded in 2008, Finland-based Grey Area released
its first title, "Shadow Cities," for the iPhone last fall.

"The
game leverages the phone’s location to transform city streets into a battle
zone for players who take on the role of techno-mages," the company said.

Grey
Area plans to open a U.S. office in the near term.
