Santa Monica, Calif. – Online publisher Demand Media (NYSE: DMD)
announced on Thursday that it has acquired CoverItLive, which provides event
audiences with real-time commentary, reader polling and Q&A capabilities.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The company’s live event platform is used by publishers and brands including
People, TMZ, the Daily Beast, ESPN, Ford and the BBC.
Calif.-based Demand, which recently raised $150 million in an IPO, previously
invested in CoverItLive in 2009.
