New York – Time Warner’s (NYSE: TWX) Warner Bros. film studio has
launched a test of streaming movie rentals and sales on Facebook. Facebook
users will be able to pay via the social network’s virtual currency, Facebook
Credits, and movies will cost 30 credits — or $3 — for a 48-hour rental
period.

The studio plans to make "The Dark Knight" available first during
the U.S.-exclusive test, but plans to add more titles and the ability to
purchase films outright.

Users will still be able to post status updates,
comments and use other Facebook features while streaming their movie rentals.

"Making
our films available through Facebook is a natural extension of our digital
distribution efforts," said Thomas Gewecke, president of Warner Bros.
Digital Distribution.

"It gives consumers a simple, convenient way to
access and enjoy our films through the world’s largest social network."
