San Francisco – Kiip, a developer of mobile in-game
advertising, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $4 million in its first
round of funding, led by Hummer Winblad Venture Partners.

Previous backer True
Ventures also participated in the investment round.

San Francisco-based Kiip
was co-founded by former Digg executives Brian Wong and Courtney Guertin, and
Amadeus Demarzi.

The company is currently in stealth mode, and plans to launch
this spring.

"We believe that Kiip can go beyond the traditional banner ad
to bridge the world between gaming and brands by delivering unparalleled
engagement opportunities for brands to reach intended audiences at just the
right moment," said Kiip CEO Brian Wong.
