Palo Alto, Calif. – Venture capital firm Accel Partners has
invested $40 million in production company Legendary Pictures, which has
released films including "The Dark Knight," "The Hangover"
and "Inception," Forbes reported.
Founded in 2005, Burbank,
Calif.-based Legendary has a seven-year, 40-picture agreement with Warner Bros.
The company has previously taken financing from investors including ABRY
Partners, AIG Direct Investments, Bank of America Capital Investors, Columbia
Capital, Falcon Investment Advisors and M/C Venture Partners.
In addition to
films, the company has also branched out into producing video games and comic
books.
