San Francisco – Twitter is in "advanced talks" to
acquire TweetDeck, the operator of a service that helps users post and view
tweets on the microblogging service, for around $50 million, The Wall Street
Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

PaidContent notes
that the talks with Twitter come two months after the company was reportedly
close to being acquired by UberMedia, which also operates Twitter apps
UberSocial and Twidroyd.

Twitter last year also acquired mobile Twitter client
Tweetie, which has since been re-branded as Twitter for iPhone.

TweetDeck has
to date raised around $4 million in venture capital, from backers including
Accelerator Group, Betaworks, Ron Conway and Howard Lindzon.
