New York – Digital marketing firm Datran Media has acquired
citizen journalism platform Allvoices for an undisclosed sum, TechCrunch
reported.

Founded in 2008, Allvoices has to date raised $9 million in funding,
from backers including VantagePoint Capital Partners.

The site distributes
user-generated news reporting, photos and videos from hundreds of thousands of
people around the world.

New York-based Datran Media plans to extend Allvoices’
crowd-sourced platform beyond news into other areas, and license the technology
to third parties.
