Los Angeles – More than 23,000 individuals alleged to have
downloaded the 2010 movie "The Expendables" off of the BitTorrent
file-sharing network are expected to receive notice soon that they are being
sued for copyright infringement, Wired.com reported.

A federal judge has
approved the issuance of subpoenas to the individuals’ ISPs, which will be
ordered to match an IP address associated with the alleged downloading to the
identities of their subscribers.

The U.S. Copyright Group, which was set up
last year to manage such mass lawsuits against BitTorrent downloaders, will
likely then offer to settle the lawsuits in return for payments averaging
$3,000 per infringement.
