Palo Alto, Calif. – Facebook has acquired Amsterdam-based Sofa, a software developer and design firm, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2006, Sofa has developed applications including Kaleidoscope, which helps users compare and spot differences in text and image files, and Checkout, a retail store application.
The company said that its apps will remain available after the acquisition, although they are not part of the deal, and that it will be relocating from Amsterdam to Facebook’s headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif.
