Cupertino, Calif. — Bromium, a developer of technology in the areas of virtualization and security, said on Wednesday it has emerged from stealth mode after raising $9.2 million in its first round of funding.

Andreessen Horowitz, Ignition Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners participated. Founded by Gaurav Banga, Simon Crosby and Ian Pratt, Bromium is focused on the delivery of infrastructure tools allowing clients to embrace consumerization and cloud computing. Banga, the company’s president and CEO, previously was the CTO of Phoenix Technologies.

Crosby was the CTO of Citrix’s Data Center & Cloud Division, while Pratt is the chairman of Xen.org and was co-founder of XenSource.
