Twitter co-founder Biz Stone used his personal blog Tuesday to announce that he’s moving on from the microblogging sensation, then – naturally – shared the news with his Twitter followers
Stone will be working with two familiar names in his new pursuits, fellow Twitter co-founder and former CEO Ev Williams and former vice president of product Jason Goldman. The trio has resurrected the Obvious Corporation, the company that incubated Twitter before it was spun off into a separate free-standing entity.
According to the Obvious Corp. mission statement, the company “develops systems that help people work together to improve the world.” Stone wrote that his interests include helping schools, nonprofits, and company advisory boards as well as the philanthropic Biz and Livia Stone Foundation,
Stone wrote that he will remain involved with the future of Twitter, but added, “I’ve decided that the most effective use of my time is to get out of the way until I’m called upon to be of some specific use.”
Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has been involved in this transition and has provided support, Stone wrote.
