All infographics fans should appreciate a lovely new artwork that details the history of computing according to Microsoft and Apple, spotlighting the incredible ups and downs both giants have experienced over the years.

The downloadable timeline is the work of Sean Lind, who blogs at Manolution. It starts in November, 1994, when Apple bought every ad page in Newsweek magazine to announce its new personal computer – only to lay off 1,200 employees less than a year later. Those and other news events are on the right, with the concurrent stock prices noted on the left.
