Boston — Nanigans, an ad engine that enables advertisers to maximize their Facebook advertising spending, has sealed $3 million in its first round of funding for its Facebook advertising platform.

The funding round was led by Avalon Ventures, with Avalon’s Rich Levandov joining Nanigan’s board.

With perfect timing, Electronic Arts’ Playfish also announced today an ad network partnership with Nanigans for The Sims Social, the new Facebook iteration of the company’s hugely popular Sims franchise.

Nanigans is an exclusive Facebook partner which delivers social ads to more than 200 customers and optimizes them for actions such as Facebook Likes. It plans to use the new funding to expand its ad engine platform and hire more employees.

Last year the company raised $600,000.
