The Visual Effects Society (VES), which represents approximately 2500 visual effects artists and practitioners worldwide, has confirmed the date of the 10th Annual VES Awards Show as Feb. 7, 2012. The Annual Awards show is where the most outstanding work in 23 visual effects categories is presented and the artists who created these works are honored.

Submissions for the awards will open on Oct. 10 for work done during the calendar year 2011.

Winners from the most recent VES Awards include Paul Franklin, Chris Corbould, Mike Chambers and Matthew Plummer, who were honored with Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Feature Motion Picture for their work on Inception. Another major award,Outstanding Animation in an Animated Feature Motion Picture, went to Simon Otto, Craig Ring and Bonnie Arnold for their work on How to Train Your Dragon (pictured).
