Ngmoco announced Joanna Drake Earl is joining the mobile social games company as chief operating officer. She will lead day-to-day operations and drive the launch of Mobage, ngmoco’s global next-generation mobile entertainment network.
Earl joins ngmoco from Current TV, where she served as chief strategy officer and chief operating officer at the cable and online station founded by Al Gore and Joel Hyatt. Before that she was vice president of content at Moxi and vice president of business and product development at ReacTV.
“Joanna brings a career’s worth of experience at the crossroads of new media and technology to ngmoco,” said Neil Young, CEO of ngmoco. “Her transformative work in architecting and managing participatory media platforms at Current TV will be central to bringing the Mobage mobile entertainment network to life around the world.”
Mobage is a destination for mobile users to play social games with a worldwide community, and it also provides publishers with easy-to-use tools and a platform for releasing content. It was launched in English-speaking territories last month, with the app now available to download for Android devices from the Android Marketplace.
Ngmoco and Mobage are part of web service company DeNA Co., which reported annual sales of more than $1.3 billion in fiscal year ended March 2011.
