Shazam’s technology can be used with the DVD and Blu-ray versions of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Glee: The Concert Movie, which goes on sale tomorrow. This expansion is a first for both companies, since Shazam previously has been used only with music and television.

Fans watching the movie at home will see prompts on the screen indicating a “Shazamable moment.” Using the free mobile app will then unlock exclusive content, such as song lyrics synchronized to the movie using Shazam’s LyricPlay feature. Other unlockable content includes behind-the-scenes footage, photos, trivia factoids and special offers for related merchandise.

These extras are added to the user’s Shazam Tag List, where they can be viewed any time and shared via Facebook.

“The Shazam App lets fans interact with Glee: The Concert Movie in a way that’s never been done before,” said Mary Daily, executive vice president, Marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. “Working with Shazam underscores our commitment to leverage technology innovations to deliver the very best entertainment experiences to fans.”

Glee: The Concert Movie stars Lea Michele, Jane Lynch, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Dianna Agron, Darren Criss, Mark Salling, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris and the rest of the hit TV show’s cast. The sell-through version has exclusive extras of its own, including previously unseen and extended performances and clips.
