In an incredibly logical partnership, Sunday’s Grammy Awards will be Shazam-enabled. When viewers use Shazam during the broadcast, they can access a live stream of behind-the-scenes video, keep track of who’s performing, and – importantly – instantly buy the music.

The agreement between The Recording Academy and Shazam includes insider-access content from Grammy Live, The Recording Academy’s online destination for exclusive video, live coverage, and lots of other features related to the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be aired on CBS.

Shazam users will be able to tag, identify and look up the nominees in all of the major categories, and the app’s results will include links to purchase the music from iTunes and Amazon.

To further promote use of the free app, anyone in the U.S. who uses Shazam to tag any song and who activates the Shazam Friends social sharing options is entered into a contest to win prizes that include music, swag, and a travel package with two tickets to the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in 2013.

“The Grammys broadcast brings together two of the key aspects of the discovery service Shazam offers – music, which is our heritage, and television, which is an integral part of our future,” said Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher. “On the heels of last week’s successful Shazam-enabled Super Bowl, we couldn’t be more excited to offer people another ground breaking experience while they’re watching their favorite artists perform live on television and receive awards.”
