CTIA has unveiled the finalists for its 2012 Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards, which recognize wireless products and services in the areas of mobile apps, consumer electronics, enterprise and vertical markets and network infrastructure.

Two of the awards will be chosen by general consensus via online and text voting. Attendees at International CTIA Wireless 2012 will choose the Best in Show, and votes are being accepted for Best Online Pick at the E-Tech Awards website.

The 15 categories span infrastructure, handsets, tablets and apps in industries ranging across healthcare, public safety, productivity, green energy and more.

Two of these categories are of particular interest to digital media. One is Social, Content, Media & Entertainment, for which the finalists are: Aha Radio 2.0, Harman International; AT&T U-verse Enabled Apps, AT&T; Bobsled by T-Mobile, T-Mobile; Doro Experience, Doro; and Tangled: Storybook Deluxe, Disney Publishing Worldwide.

The other is Mobile Marketing & Advertising. The finalists in that category are: Accession Mobile Content Sharing (MCS), Metaswitch Networks; AT&T Messaging Toolkit, AT&T; Chatterspot, Chatterspot; Digby Localpoint, Digby; and Urban Airship, Urban Airship.

CTIA E-Tech Awards submissions were judged on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and what CTIA called an overall “wow” factor by a panel of industry experts, media and analysts. All of the winners will be announced at the conference on May 9 by Jon Fortt, technology correspondent for CNBC.
