The cigarettes, cocktails and clothing of Mad Men all say the hit AMC show is set in the ‘60s. A recently released game just as confidently proclaims a retro love for the ‘80s by looking like it’s just 8 bits.
Players assume the role of central character Don Draper and must complete three challenges to save the Madison Avenue advertising agency, with a different ending depending on how the player chose to complete the mission (play the game, below). The not-at-all-challenging game pretty much follows the main plot points of the TV show’s season 4.
The Mad Men Game was written and directed by Benny and Rafi Fine, the comedy team behind the “Kids React” YouTube videos. “We encourage you to play the game multiple times to see all possible endings,” the Fine Brothers wrote on their YouTube channel. “Technology at work, enjoy the game!”
Music and animation are by Doctor Octoroc, known to his family as Levi Buffum, who invites fans to download the free .zip file of the equally retro soundtrack. It’s suitable for annoying ringtones or Nyan Cat videos.
