London, England – iPhone owners account for 80 percent of the heaviest smartphone data users, according to a new report from U.K.-based Analysys Mason.
Of those smartphone consumers who are in the 70th percentile or above in terms of data usage, iPhone users appear more than three times as frequently as the next most “data-hungry” consumer segment – users of Android on HTC devices.
In the U.S., 30 percent of consumers used more than 500MB of data a month, compared with 13 percent in France and U.K., and only 8 percent in Germany.
The report, however, also indicates that data levels are heavily skewed by the high usage of a small group of individuals.
