McLean, Va. – USA Today, the national newspaper of McLean-based Gannett, said its Sports Media Group has formed a new web division, to be known as USA Today Sports Digital Properties.

The division will include the company’s BNQT action sports properties, as well as recent acquisitions such as MMAjunkie.com and the Big Lead Sports mainstream sports properties.

Tom Beusse, the president of the USA Today Sports Media Group, said the new division will act as a “one-stop shop” for “brand advertisers seeking to engage sports fans in meaningful and unique ways.”

Veteran digital industry executive Chris Pirrone has been named general manager. Pirrone most recently served as an executive vice president at Traffic Marketplace, and previously was the chief administrative officer and general counsel of Connexus.
