New York
– Viacom’s (NYSE: VIA) MTV Games on Tuesday launched a public beta test of its new Rock
Band Network Store, which will let any band or user upload their own original
songs and create versions playable in the music karaoke game, The Wall Street
Journal reported. The Journal noted that a good degree of technical skills
would be required for most bands to utilize the feature, and that TuneCore is
offering a rate of $999 per song. That fee includes creation and mixing of
individual track "stems" for various instruments; note-charting; the
addition of "lighting, camera and animation cues" for the game; and
final submission to the Rock Band Network Store.
