London – Sony has launched an Android mobile application for its Qriocity Music Unlimited cloud-based music service, Music Ally reported.

Mobile users must have either a Basic or Premium subscription to Music Unlimited in order to use the free app.

Basic subscribers stream personalized radio channels, as well as their own personal music collections, while Premium subscribers will additionally be able to stream the service’s full catalog on-demand.

Music Ally noted that Qriocity Music Unlimited is currently the only cloud-based music app for the Android platform that provides the same functionality as “iTunes Match,” where users can simply scan their hard drive to identify songs in their collections — rather than having to manually upload all of their digital libraries to the cloud.

The app will initially be available on Sony Ericsson Android handsets, as well as others running Android 2.1 or higher.
