Redwood City, Calif. – YuMe, a developer of video advertising technology, said on Thursday it has acquired U.K.-based Appealing Media, a mobile video advertising firm serving clients such as ESPN, IPC Media, Bauer Media and Universal McCann.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Mobile video is clearly a growth market and by joining YuMe we are increasing our offering for the UK market considerably — both to other publishers but also to other platforms such as online and TV,” said Owen Hanks, the founder and CEO of Appealing Media.
The Redwood City, Calif.-based company also said it has opened an office in London, and hired Tim Laehy — the former CFO of CloudShield Technologies and Collation — as its CFO.
The news comes 16 months after YuMe raised $25 million in a round of funding led by Menlo Ventures.
