Seattle, Wash. — PressPlane, a Seattle-based startup company, confirmed Wednesday that it has raised $3.5 million in a new round of funding.
The series B funding round was led by Madrona Capital, with participation by Rob Glaser (founder of RealNetworks and Venture Partner at Accel) and existing partners including Second Avenue Ventures and well-known Seattle angels like company chairman Mika Salmi (formerly of MTV Networks and Atom Entertainment), Erik Blachford and Rich Barton. Glaser and Madrona’s Len Jordan also will be joining Pressplane’s board.
The money will be used to further expand their mobile web design app Zapd, which the company reports has been downloaded 320,000 times since its launch less than three months ago. The iPhone app is designed to enable users to create a website in seconds, directly from a mobile handset, while also having the ability to share photos faster through social media websites.
An updated version of the app, v1.4, was released Tuesday that includes privacy settings, custom subdomains and other features.
PressPlane’s other product is custom print and design company Inkd.
