Just in time to play with it on the way to Comic-Con, today saw the release of the free Star Wars Blu-ray: Early Access app.
The app is an interactive teaser of the bonus material that will be on the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Complete Saga. That set will be released September 16, bringing some of the best-selling movies ever to Blu-ray for the first time. Finally.
Regrettably, the app only works on Apple’s iPad. Android-using Star Wars fans – even those who bought the Motorola R2-D2 Droid 2 from Verizon Wireless last fall – will just have to wait.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment also will be showcasing the app at Comic Con International 2011, which opens July 21 in San Diego. Fans also will be shown additional selections from the over 40 hours of bonus materials that will be in the set, including concept art, close-ups of things like models, matte paintings, maquettes and props, and interviews with filmmakers both behind and in front of the camera.
