It’s 9 o’clock in the evening of Sept. 13. Do you know where your HD satellite is? Dish Network does, even though many of its subscribers can’t actually receive any HD channels at the moment. The company said it expects necessary repairs will be completed by the morning of Sept. 14.
[Update: Dish Network contacted DMW to confirm that full HD service was restored by early on Sept. 14, as they had promised subscribers it would be.]
Meanwhile, subscribers to Dish Network in the affected areas are being told to unplug their receiver from the main power source and plug it back in to watch standard definition, or else to watch programs previously recorded on their DVRs. The company isn’t mentioning DVDs, Hulu, Netflix or other alternatives.
The interruption is affecting the 129 orbital satellite location. Among the local TV stations reporting relevant outages in their area are JUSA-TV in Denver, WTHR-TV in Indianapolis and WSAV-TV in Savannah, Georgia.
Technical information on the satellite, Ciel 2 at 129.0°W, can be found here and here.
