TriPlay today announced an app that synchs its MyMusicCloud personal music player with Dropbox so users can enjoy their music and video collection from any computer (PC or Mac), tablet or phone with Internet access.
Being cloud-based, MyMusicCloud is completely cross-platform. Web access doesn’t need to be continuous, either. Synchronization is automatic whenever there’s a connection, but playback works even when users are offline with their own devices. If a user is playing their music on someone else’s device, like a computer at work, MyMusicCloud functions as a streaming service and obviously needs to be connected.
Tamir Koch, TriPlay chief executive officer, added that MyMusicCloud works worldwide and can integrate with Facebook as well.
The service supports up to two computers and two mobile devices per user. It also shows lyrics and enables users to clip ringtones out of tracks.
The MyMusicCloud service offers online storage of up to 2 GB for free, with additional space available starting at $10 a year per 5GB. Members in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. also can purchase and download music from the MyMusicCloud store, which offers more than 11 million songs for 19 cents and higher.
“MyMusicCloud extends the simplicity of enjoying your treasured music collection stored on Dropbox by allowing you to hear it anywhere you go on any mobile device, tablet or PC,” Koch said in a statement. “Additionally, MyMusicCloud provides an incredible user experience via a music player interface displaying users’ playlists, albums, artists and tracks.”
