Universal Pictures is offering a big box of digital toys to help promote American Reunion, which opens on April 6. Fans of the American Pie franchise have many ways to express their affection for the characters and events in the movies, almost all of which are designed to be shared with friends.
Among the official site‘s features are a personalized gif creator, the “MILF Hall of Fame,” a “Pie in the Face” game that used uploaded photos, a simple “Stifler Beer Pong” game, “Better or Worse” voting and an American Reunion cover for Facebook Timeline. These are in addition to the wallpapers, links to purchase previous movies and soundtracks, and other elements that practically every movie website should have.
To make it even easier to disrupt classrooms, there is a free mobile app known as the Stifler App-Suite which includes thematic games, a “Stifler Speak Soundboard” and more.
Reminding fans of how much they loved the previous movies in the series, the movie separately has its own YouTube channel showing sharable favorite clips along with trailers, TV spots, and an age-restricted section for the racier clips and a compilation called “Shit Stifler Says.”
Universal Pictures also used ooVoo‘s 12-way live video chat to hold a virtual junket where a group of fans posed questions to cast members Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eddie Kaye Thomas. That 20-minute event, held March 18, is archived in a branded environment here and can be shared.
“We are constantly looking for new ways to reach our fans in relevant, unexpected ways,” said Doug Neil, senior vice president, Digital Marketing, Theatrical Marketing at Universal Pictures. “With ooVoo, we were able to engage our audience in a direct conversation with multiple fans – all within a creatively branded new social channel. For fans, it was the next best thing to being in the room.”

About the movie: In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago return to East Great Falls for their high school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about – and get inspired by – the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.
