Mobile advertising startup Drawbridge came out of stealth today with a bang, announcing it has secured $6.5 million in Series A funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sequoia Capital.
Drawbridge is striving to bring website-level targeting, tracking and performance metrics to mobile advertising. Founder and CEO Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan (pictured) said the lack of these capabilities is blocking mobile advertising from reaching its full potential and being adopted more widely.
To accomplish this, Drawbridge is developing a cross-device advertising solution that Sivaramakrishnan said is the first of its kind.
“Today, targeting in mobile display advertising is more about the device than the audience behind it,” she said Sivaramakrishnan. “Consumers now have multiple touch points across various screens. We want to leverage this emerging user behavior and unlock the power of cross-device data to impact targeting in mobile.”
Sivaramakrishnan, who founded Drawbridge in November 2010, has extensive experience in machine learning and was lead scientist at AdMob, which was acquired by Google in 2010.
