Tween Girls Site Fashion Playtes Raises $1.7 Million

Salem, Mass. – Fashion Playtes, the operator of an
online girls fashion website, has raised $1.7 million in venture capital,
according to a filing by the company with the Securities and Exchange
Commission.

Founded in July 1999, Fashion Playtes’ website allows
"tween" girls to design their own clothes online.

Girls select from a
variety of dresses, t-shirts, hoodies, and can pick colors, ribbons, ruffles,
appliques, rhinestones, etc.
