San Francisco
– Russel Simmons, the co-founder of user-generated reviews site Yelp, will be
stepping down as CTO, TechCrunch reported. Simmons, who in 2004 launched the
company with fellow PayPal veteran Jeremy Stoppelman, reportedly plans to
retain an advisory role as he takes some time off to travel. He also will
continue to hold a "significant" stake in the company. No replacement
has been named. Yelp draws about 32 million visitors a month to its 30 city
sites, with contributors so far writing more than 11 million reviews of local
businesses.
