San Francisco
– Linden Lab, the operators of online virtual world "Second Life,"
announced on Thursday that CEO Mark Kingdon is stepping down after two years
leading the company.

The move comes two weeks after Linden laid off 30% of its staff as part of a
restructuring.

Company founder Philip Rosedale will become interim CEO, while
chief financial officer Bob Komin will assume the additional role of chief
operating officer.

"On behalf of the board, I thank Mark for all of his
contributions during his tenure with Linden Lab which include growing our user
base and revenue, increasing the stability of the platform, and nurturing and
helping build a world class team," said Rosedale, who will continue to
serve on Linden Lab’s board of directors.
