– The co-chairs of the U.S. House Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus have written to
Apple (NASD: AAPL) seeking information on recent changes to the privacy policy for users of
its iOS devices, such as the iPhone and iPad. Reps. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe
Barton (R-Texas) are concerned about the privacy rights of owners of Apple’s
mobile devices, after the company announced it would share precise location
data on users with third-party services.
"Given the limited ability of
Apple users to opt out of the revised policy and still be able to take
advantage of the features of their Apple products, we are concerned about the
impact the collection of such data could have on the privacy of Apple’s
customers," the lawmakers wrote in the letter.
They provide a list of nine
questions for Apple to address, which ask the company to provide details on
how, why and on whom it collects location data, as well as exactly with whom
Apple is sharing its customers’ data.

It is really a good move. Because your location information will be revealed if you are using location-based app such as Google maps.
Thanks Apple, I’ve read over the internet in the past couple days, and I’m glad my contract with ATT ends int he next couple months. I can decide if I want your No-Privacy Limited use iPhone, or a nice self controlled Droid. If I pay a chunk of money for something, I want to be able to use it for what I need and want, not to be tracked of what I do for your own pleasure with statistics and money. I’m thinking Macintosh is becoming Microsoft. I still say the names are still similar. Prove me wrong.
