Cambridge, Mass. – Just 4 in 100 online adults has ever used
a location-based mobile service like Foursquare, Gowalla or Loopt, and only 1%
of these people "check-in" on such services more than once a week,
according to a report from market research firm Forrester.

"The market is
quite nascent, with only a few million consumers using geolocation apps
monthly," writes Forrester’s Melissa Parrish.

"Forrester recommends
that bold, male-targeted marketers start testing but that most marketers should
wait until they can get a bigger bang for their buck, when adoption rates
increase and established players emerge from the fray."
