Basking Ridge, N.J. – Verizon Wireless on Tuesday announced
plans to begin selling the Motorola Droid 2 smartphone on Aug. 11, for $199
with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate. The Droid 2 includes a
slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3G mobile hotspot capabilities and Adobe Flash
Player 10.1, and will run Google’s Android 2.2 software. Verizon also plans to
offer a limited edition "R2-D2" version of the phone, featuring
"exclusive Star Wars content and external hardware designed to look like
the trusty Droid from the film saga."
